HYLOGRIP HY5177
Description
Hylogrip HY5177 is a medium strength pipe sealant for metal threads. It is a medium strength, high
viscosity adhesive suitable for bonding all threaded metal assemblies. It is particularly useful for
the fast sealing of threaded joints in pipe-work, especially where the joint is exposed to vibrations.
When fully cured it is highly resistant to heat, corrosion, vibrations, water, gases, brake fluid, oils,
hydrocarbons and many chemicals.

Instructions for Use
For best results ensure that both surfaces are clean, dry and free from contamination such as oil or
grease. Surfaces may be cleaned using Acetone or an equivalent product. Prior to assembly apply
sufficient product to fill the threads, put the nut on to the thread and tighten to the desired torque. After

tightening any excess Hylogrip HY5177 can be easily wiped away using a cloth soaked in Acetone or
a similar solvent.
Typical applications
Hylogrip HY5177 is a medium strength, general purpose thread sealing adhesive for use on any
metal threaded components, particularly those within pipe-work. HY5177 has a high breakaway
torque and a low prevailing torque which prevents the joint becoming loose while allowing for easy
assembly and disassembly.
Because the compound cures within the joint, it not only prevents leakage from within the pipe-
work, but also excludes the surrounding environment from the joint surface. This helps to reduce
the likelihood of crevice corrosion taking place, especially where the joint is immersed in sea water.

Storage
Shelf life is 18 months from date of manufacture when stored below 250C in original unopened
containers. The shelf life will decrease if kept above 250C or if exposed to direct sunlight.
