Polyisobutylene (PIB)
Lubrizol is a major producer of polyisobutylene. For grease applications, these polymers are used as alternatives to heavy naphthenic and bright stock oils to provide increased viscosity with improved oxidative stability and low-temperature performance. PIBs provide:
- Excellent moisture and oxygen barrier
- Adhesive qualities and tackiness down to -50°C
